What a fantastic day! I had my regular model Chanelle and new recruit Mali in the studio today for a pre-shoot for our Introduction to Portrait Photography Course. We ran through a bunch of different lighting setups and then headed over to Sudeley Castle, where we’ll be shooting on location next weekend.
I can’t thank the girls enough for their time and energy – it was great to really nail down our content for next week’s first johnordphotography course, and we developed some great ideas for some shots.
The first shot is Chanelle, shot in the studio with probably my favourite set up, a large soft box on a boom arm, dropped in at an angle just above the model’s head.
The second shot is Mali, on location at Sudeley. No diffusers, no reflectors, no studio lighting. Just natural daylight, use of the environment, and incident metering to get the exposure spot on.
