After a very full on April-May-June-July, we’ve taken a well earned break and popped over to Ireland to visit some friends. With a bit of time to play with, I was keen to shoot some long exposure photographs, and seascapes are great subjects for this. I really enjoy setting up for these shots, as it slows down my pace and I get a chance to really immerse myself (hopefully not literally!) in the environment. I used an aperture of f22 to ensure the image was sharp from foreground through to background, but still had to use a couple of Lee ND filters to allow me to decrease the shutter speed to 5s @ ISO100. A tripod was needed to get a sharp picture, and I’m really pleased with the overall result, which has a moody sense of motion and time passing to the scene. If you’d like to understand more about long exposures, get in touch and learn more about our courses 🙂
Exciting gig shooting another school prospectus for Winchcombe Secondary School. Marketing and PR agency Insightful PR were coordinating the shoot and it was really fun working with Hayley who had a great eye and added lots to the art direction of the shoot. We only really had one day to get all the shots we needed, so we had a recce with the head Neil Hall before the shoot to put together a really tight brief. It was fast paced on the day and included outdoor athletics (in the rain) and indoor science lessons (complete with fireballs!). The school is nestled in the Cotswolds AONB, which made for some beautiful and unique shots. Big thanks to all the staff and students who made the day both fun and successful! And if you are one of the marketing team of your school or college please get in touch to discuss photography for your project.
